Frequently Asked Questions & Guide
Where do I paste my MOTD?
In standard Minecraft (Vanilla, Spigot, Paper), open your server's root folder and locate server.properties.
Find the line starting with motd= and replace everything after the equals sign with the exported code.
If you are running a BungeeCord or Velocity network proxy, paste the code into your bungee.yml or velocity.toml configuration.
What is the character limit for a Minecraft MOTD?
Minecraft displays exactly 2 lines of text in the multiplayer server list. Each line fits approximately 45 to 53 characters depending on character widths (e.g. bold letters and capital letters take more pixel space than lowercase or narrow letters like 'i').
Do RGB hex gradients work on all Minecraft versions?
Hex colors (like ff8c00) are supported natively in Minecraft 1.16 and newer.
Players joining from older clients (1.8 through 1.15) will see the closest matching classic 16-color fallback.
